It’s always been about doing what’s best for our clients and their families. That doesn’t always mean doing what is popular or on trend, but instead to weigh up all the benefits and costs to determine the best outcome for our clients.
Qualifications
Bachelor of Economics (Adelaide University), majoring in Accounting / Fellow of Chartered Accountants in Australia and New Zealand
How did it all start?
I’ve always been interested in business and showed a reasonable grasp and acumen of financial concepts in university. Led to my first job in a medium sized accounting practice. After 3 years of work and study, I received my Chartered Accountants qualification and moved to my second job in a firm where Peter Chan was working. Some years later, we formed a partnership and started P&A Accountants in the year 2000. In July 2016, I received recognition of my 25 years as a member of Chartered Accountants, Australia and New Zealand.
Goals and successes
I never really wanted to operate my own business, but when the opportunity came up to start our own practice, it took some serious contemplation before deciding to take the leap of faith, particularly as we had a very young family at the time. The early years of business were certainly challenging but looking back, it was one of the best decisions we’ve ever made. Apart from business, just raising a family (my wife and I have a daughter and a son) has been one of our greatest achievements!
What sets us apart from everybody else
I’d like to believe that our clients will say that we actually do care for them. Our work is more than just accounting and tax. We deal with our clients as people who mean so much to us. Their struggles become our struggles, and their successes become our successes too!
Hobbies
I really enjoy travel, spending time with family, playing golf and badminton. Something you may not know about me is that I am a qualified Accredited National Badminton Umpire.
